Love is not
enough. Parents and others who assume the awesome
responsibility of raising children deserve the best
possible parenting education, guidance and support. That
is why the Mental Health and Recovery Centers of Warren
County and the Abuse and Rape Crisis Shelter of Warren
County have partnered together to provide the “Strengthening
Families, Incredible Years Family Life Education Program,” which
uses a nationally-recognized, best-practice curriculum.
The “Strengthening
Families, Incredible Years Family Life Education
Program” offers FEREE parenting groups
for parents with children of all ages and FREE Children’s
groups that are targeted for children who are developmentally
ages 3 to 8. Parent and children’s
groups are provided at the same time and location.
In
parent groups, parents learn to manage
their children’s behavior problems; learn to
replace spanking and harsh discipline with non-violent
discipline techniques; and learn to help nurture and
guide their children toward reaching their fullest
potential. The children’s groups
are designed to help prevent and / or reduce behavioral
and emotional problems in young children, and help
children learn friendship and relationship skills,
which will help them throughout their lives.
